From 1995 until 2000 I owned four art galleries in Vancouver, showing at one time around 50 artists. Eventually I ran it the conventional way of a commercial gallery except instead of many, I represented about a dozen. This experience rewarded me with a wealth of information in what is a little known about or understood field of business. Somehow in there I landed at the front of a classroom as well.
I teach privately in my studio as well as doing workshops for various guilds. I am able to work with any skill level, individual needs and the interests of the student. I invent exercises and challenges tailored to the individual and or guild, to encourage vision and individual approach. Critique is included. I view "seeing" as the most powerful tool in analysis of where we want to go with our work. We look for what works, the strengths and language specific to the individual and build on them. Eventually the weakness disappears and what is left is made sense of.
